They have already created a small chain of grocery stores called "Neighborhood Market".
They could bring some real competition to the retail drug business. Walgreen and CVS both have strong competitive positions. Walmart has size, scale, buying power, distribution, and technology among other attributes that would allow them to create a business called "Walmart Rx."
What are your thoughts on Walmart bringing some new competition to the retail drug business?
PS: Could also see these stores having an in store clinic to serve
- The health needs of the uninsured
- People who want convenience in health care [even if they have insurance]
- People looking for vaccinations
- Etc...
